Montana Youth Deer Opener

Am I reading the Montana regulations for youth deer opener right? It opens on Oct 20 and 21. That's the Thursday and Friday right before the general opener. This is a change from previous years when it was the weekend before right? How was it decided that it would be a good idea to have the youth opener during the week while the kids are in school???

Guess I hadn't noticed this change among all the other chaos of rule changes earlier this year.

I would prefer 10/22/22.

Weekend before might bum out a few archery hunters.

Incorrect. It has always been during the week when school is out for the "teachers' convention".
