Hey folks! Many of you are likely familiar with Hellgate Hunters and Anglers, a Missoula-based rod-and-gun club that exists to to conserve Montana’s wildlife, wild places, and fair-chase hunting and fishing heritage. I imagine there are a number of past and current members on this site, obviously myself included! Even if you are not familiar, if you hunt and fish in Montana, especially western Montana, HHA has surely done something to protect and enhance your experience outdoors.
HHA has an annual fundraiser called 'Wild Night for Wildlife', and it is a seriously good time every year. This year it is next Saturday, 3/28, 6pm, at Trail Head River Sports in Missoula. Wild Night is not only always full of a ton of incredible Montanan outdoors-folks, but also a good time to network with FWP, conservation public figures, and Montana public officials.
Every year for some time now, I have donated a personal work of art to be auctioned off. I'm really proud of this year's piece, called 'Montana Sage', pictured below. It's about 22x30" framed, done with pastel pencils. The frame is Walnut and was made and assembled by another HHA member, and it is stunning in person! I chose the Pronghorn and Sage setting this year to highlight southwest Montana (and obviously a lot of Wyoming) not only as one of my favorite wild places in the world, but also because this country is heavily BLM lands, and has been under constant threat by the recent political shenanigans and development we all know too much about. @Big Fin thanks for all of your personal had work on these advocacy efforts, and we would LOVE to have you at Wild Night next weekend.
