Have been coming to montana for the last 3 years for spring bear. Bring the whole family and make a vacation out of it. We have stayed in a lot of different cabings over the years but this year all the regular cabins are booked or the prices have went way up. Was just wondering if any of you Montana guys know of anyone with a cabin or vacation house they wouldn't mind renting out for week in the madison valley. Would like perfer if it was around the West fork of the madison or raynolds pass area. Good luck to everyone this spring. I am looking forward to some pictures of big bears. Best animal and time of year to be hunting in my opinion.

Whats your budget per-night or week for whole family (and how many folks we talkin here)?

Those two things will help before I posts some advice; so as to not recommend something to high.
..........
I'm down on Madison at least twice a week now, fishing/bear hunting - so I'll keep my eyes and ears out.

We usually pay 1000-2000 a week for the cabin. I need something that has three beds. Doesn't matter if it is 2 beds and a hida bed but, need three beds. I know that the West Fork Cabin Campground is booked and that the one cabin we usually get by the Grizzly Bar and Grill no longer rents out. Also last time I was there the Howln Mad Moon was shut down and no longer open. I have looked online but a lot of the cabins are unavailable for a couple of days we will be coming. That means I would have to check out go somewhere else for a few nights and then check back in a few days later. That would suck but I guess if thats the only option it will have to do.

I'll look around.

I probably wont head down that far before the weekend (Upper Mad.), but might be there by Sunday.

There's new owners at a cafe down there justa couple miles south of West Fork Cabins on the right. The name escapes me, but it has been established for years, they just upgraded the bar/seating and fixed it up a bit. Its right across from that huge field and BMA sign-in box and is a big elk winter-refuge I think (just for reference, in case you know where I'm talking)?
It has several cabins behind it that were a little less $$$ than West Fork . You may have already called there, since I cant recall the name (sorry)?

Still I'll see what I can find.

Moe;)

Did anyone make it down that way this past weekend? How does the snow pack on the gravely range look?

Snow was starting to come off pretty good the last week or so. There is still quite a bit up high. They are predicting 1-3' above 5000' by Friday for a good portion of SW MT.
