Montana black bear

dn’t draw deer but my 11 year old son can still try for a buck on an apprentice license. I’m gonna get a bear tag so I’m not just a gun caddy. Any general areas I should focus on? We’re hunting SE for deer first and since this is his first deer hunt we won’t be picky and our plan is then head to the mountains, but not sure where to head. Any push in the right direction will be greatly appreciated.
