For Randy (or anyone else) I notice there are lots of videos out there describing how the Montana deer and elk application and draw work for non residents. I can find almost nothing on how all the other species in Montana work for non residents. Could you please do a video on that? Thanks in advance.

I think the main reason why is that the deer/elk licensing for nonresidents is infinitely more complex than sheep/goat/antelope/moose. Only deer and elk have the nonresident combo licenses that are valid in general areas, which you need to draw if you want to be in the running for a “permit” in the limited quota districts. For the other species, there is no general license (I’m ignoring black bears and lions here). Sheep/goat/antelope/moose are all limited quota districts with a bonus point system in place that squares your bonus points in the draw. Nonresidents are capped at up to 10% of the licenses. Bison permits are issued on a limited quota, as well, but there’s no point system. The nonresident cap still applies.

I realize that does not answer all of your questions, most likely. But I think that’s why the focus for NR apps in MT is on deer/elk. If you understand the NR deer/elk process you can (more or less) think of the others as mirroring the draw for the deer/elk limited quota “permits.”
