Minneapolis Metro Public Land Urban Whitetail

For you Minnesota deer hunters out here, have any of you had any success in the MSP Metro area on public land tracts? Much of the area is within the unit 601, one of the few areas in the state where you can shoot multiple deer throughout the season.

I have had some good encounters within the Louisville Swamp Management Unit, but haven't closed the deal yet.

There are some limited permit areas you can apply for that are pretty good. Check out the three Rivers park system website.

I hunted all of the local areas about 5 years ago and I know the southwest ones really well. I plan on starting to hunt them again this year and hope they are not over run with people. If you hunt Louisville, then try the Rapids lake unit as well. There is also Wilke which is good, but you have to know where to go to avoid other hunters. Good luck !
