Sen. Mike Lee just introduced the “Borderlands Conservation Act” – a bill that would dramatically rewrite the Wilderness Act and result in new roads, motorized access, and surveillance infrastructure across designated wilderness within 100 miles of both our northern and southern borders.

Existing laws and agreements already give DHS sweeping authority to operate along the border through waivers and MOUs with federal land agencies.

This bill goes further—codifying new motorized routes on public lands and creating unfunded mandates for agencies already stretched thin by staffing cuts.

Link goes to instagram. I don’t have that garbage

Don’t have that garbage either.
This is my social media.

According to the AI overview it doesn’t sound all that bad, thankfully it also included a Utah organizations distaste for the bill, for the reasons you listed.

Just hit the news here...the BWCA is projected to be heavily impacted.

I might have to get one of those Mike Lee hats.

The US rep in the area is all for it (Stauber). Literally done nothing for his constituents, toes the extreme line well though...and has a nice habit of praising projects that he voted AGAINST.
