Thanks for the in sight. Yeah we went down last year and checked out the cabins by turnpin reservoir, there was elk sign literally everywhere there, my girlfriend got her first smell of elk there, she was like what is that smell..... That is the smell of elk hunny . Stopped along some of the trails and dipped off in the trees a couple hundred yards and saw elk sign everywhere. Kind of the reason I wanted to go there. I didn't draw my tag for where I really want to hunt so this was my back up plan that I didn't really scout for. Was planning on going down in July for a camping and scouting trip but got laid off early in the year. Seems like a decent area. I can't wait, stoked about it, first elk hunt in 20 years so even if I don't get an elk, still have fun.
