MDC announces Missouri’s first elk-hunting season coming this fall!

Apply May 1 - 31 at mdc.mo.gov/buypermits, or through a permit vendor.

Have to say I'm pretty darn excited that we'll be seeing the first of hopefully many, many years of elk hunting this season in Missouri. Application period (resident only - 4 tags) from May 1st to May 31st.

Indeed, too bad they don't have you get an RMEF membership before applying. That might give a good boost to membership.

Doesn't help my odds any, but a reminder that applications close this coming Sunday (31st).

Sorry to say I struck out, but nearly 20,000 applicants for the 4 general tags and 1 landowner tag. Almost $200,000 raised.

MDC announces five hunters drawn for elk permits

Five Missourians drawn were among 19,215 applications to hunt antlered elk this fall.

4 of the 5 hunters participated in the archery portion of the elk hunt, and none were successful. Supposedly the elk stayed within the boundaries of the "sanctuary" zone comprising half of the Peck CA. We'll see if anything changes during the rifle portion.
