77 MkII in .308 was my first real deer rifle at about age 14 or 15. Still shoot a deer or two with it every few years.

It's a great gun but I need to work up a better load for it. Also since I bought suppressors it's hard for me to chose a gun thats not threaded.

I have seen a few "trophy" two points over the years. Killed a few decent ones even. But this one is my favorite of all time. First antlered deer for my daughter. One shot with the Muzzleloader at 25 yards. Cool experience with her.

Would be interesting to see what the antlers looked like the other nine years of life. My money is on, that he was never much different than when he was 10. Cool that a buck can live that long. even if he is only a forky.

I seem to remember a ‘big’ 2-pt or 3-pt you had running around behind your house in like 2006ish. Remember that deer?

We have had several, That might have been the one the lady form Billings shot. Big fork all the years I saw him. He was standing by my driveway and a few minuets later I ran into a couple from Billings hunting some public. The man had already tagged a four point, so I ask the lady if she would be willing to shoot a big fork. She was, so they got in my truck. Rounded a bend in the drive way and he was standing next to the road. I said there he is and stopped the truck. Wheels have just quit moving and she shot him right out the window. I was like WTF. Wasn't expecting that. Her husband was kind of jealous, He was proud of his four point, but that forky was much bigger in body and antlers.

If I had more time I would take more people, especially kids on old three point and forky hunts. Would prefer that people got out of the truck before shooting though. Those hunts can turn into more effort than I have time for. Probably told this story before, but one time the wife and I were coming down off the forest and right at the boundary was a guy and his ten or eleven year old grand son watching a very small whitetail on the neighbors property, hoping the buck would come back on public. Grandpa worked at the same place as my wife, so we stopped and said hi. When we got to our place there was a very old three by four next to the road. I thought, I should get that kid to shoot that buck, so I dropped my wife off at home and went back looking for grandpa and grand kid. Of course by the time I found then the buck had moved back into the hills, so we had to hike a bit, that was ok, but the kid made a several poor shots and the wounded buck jumped onto the neighbors and out of sight. It was getting late, I wanted to contact the neighbor and I didn't want to keep pushing the buck farther onto the neighors in the dark. I told them to come back the next day. Grandpa had to work in the morning, so they were back right after lunch, We did track the buck down, but not before the coyotes got a hind quarter. Kid was still thrilled and that made it all worth it, but If I had know how it was going to unfold, I might have just stayed at home and watched football.
