Manulife Dropping Out of A&H

They've gone to leasing a ton of ground in NE WA that was previously open to public hunting. Huge hit in my area, it's pretty unfortunate.

They have a couple pieces near me in Idaho that this worries me about. It also makes me nervous about what other timber companies in the area might do

What the heck is manulife? When I google it, I get that it is the biggest Canadian insurance company or financial services company. Do they own a bunch of land in the states?

Back when I was a kid into at least high school Boise Cascade owned it, then changed hands and names, to now Manulife.

As of at least 3 or 4 years ago theyd already started shutting down certain chunks of hunting territory I used to roam starting back in 4th grade.

Will be interesting to see how many more people show up on NF to hunt.

part of the problem is some of the forest access roads go up thru that land,{at least in wenaha, sled springs, and wala wala units}what used to be hancock lands to get to national forest lands,,i hope the access roads will be easements to get up to national forest land and not gated off to make public access harder in many spots

My place is surrounded by them. I am disappointed for sure. Not sure the locals will give a damn, really wonder how they're going to enforce it in much of the ground they own.

I hunted the Hancock land North of Spokane one fall for just a weekend. It seemed like a great idea until the season hit. Trespassers everywhere on side-by-sides, and leaving beer cans all over the place. We hiked our assesses off. We saw some one bull scouting the day before season, but that was it. We bagged hunting thre after that weekend.

so will we be able to travel thru to get to nat forest up in wenaha and sled springs?they border some of the entry points up by elgin??

County and FS roads are not impacted, those are the main roads shown on the TMA maps. You will have no issue getting to Forest land in Sled or Wenaha, with the exception of the western breaks in Sled.
