A band of antelope sprinted across the open prairie near the foothills of the Bighorn Mts. of north-central Wyoming. They'd been spooked by hunter(s) in the distance. I led the lead doe about two feet and squeezed the trigger on my .243 Remington pump rifle. The doe directly behind it toppled over.
My Dad said, "Great shot, boy"! I was too amazed to say anything for awhile. But when I told Dad the truth he did not say a word. Just a huge grin on Dad's face. I'll never forget that moment as long as I live. That's how it was in October 1970.
