The Louisiana Black Bear Lottery is open again this year. They are drawing 26 tags this year versus 11 last year. I put in for Area 4 on the Mississippi river in NE Louisiana. It would be an amazing hunt to get to harvest a black bear in my home state.

I would apply but only residents of Louisiana can apply for this hunt.

Florida has proposed allowing both residents and nonresidents to apply for their pending black bear season.

I was reading the lottery hunt page and it said a Louisiana native that is currently a non-resident could put in for it. I may have misread it, which is a strong possibility.

Id bet some of those boars get huge in a short time. No hibernation and lots of fauna/moistute should make for big happy bears.

State record was killed on the Governor's tag last year. 696 lbs. That was a huge black bear.

Well, I did not get drawn in the lottery this year. Maybe next year. I hope all 26 tags get filled with really nice size bears.

I hope they get something. I just had 2 feeders pulled down by bears in a parish that is not lottery.

Yeah that’s getting really common. I friend of mine north of Minden is dealing with them now. I won’t be surprised when I start seeing pics here south of Bossier.

Both are destructive. At least we can kill the hogs at this point.

Yep plus the license for black bear. Stamp sucker on my forehead.

They have done the same thing with the Alligator tags. Hard to get excited about hunting Gators when they jack prices on everything. John
