Looking for tips... DIY Stump Pedestal

Anyone ever make their own stump pedestal for a mount? Looking for and tips from anyone who's done it themselves. My dad shot a nice mule deer this fall and I would like to make him a base for his mount.

I live fairly close to an area with burned cedar trees so I was contemplating digging out a burned up cedar to get started. I attached some photos for what I am looking at creating for him.

I don't have any advice for you, but those mounts look amazing. That is a really great idea to do for your father.

I was planning to do something similar with driftwood and a couple of euro mounts this spring. I just have to wait for the spring runoff to bring me the right piece of wood for the job.

Those 3 mule deer mounts on cedar pedestals look good and they have wide enough bases to be stable, which is very important as pedestal mounts have a tendency of being bumped into.
