I just started elk hunting the last few years as my 15 yr old son has started to hunt. I have deer hunted in CA and the Midwest, but elk hunting is completely new to me as of 2 years ago. Also, I started bow hunting again and I am planning a DIY Elk archery hunt (and most likely 1st rifle) in the Flat Tops.
I have a few areas in the central western parts of the wilderness area that I have been scouting via the internet and google earth.
I had been hunting the northern section of the Flat Tops, north of Buford with some friends the last few years, however, it was like an ATV race track with not too much area to get away from the roads and crowds.
Looking for any general knowledge or advice you would be willing to share. Please PM me as I have a few questions as well.
