Howdy,

I picked up one of these to become my bomb proof/ bring anywhere/ any condition/ any big game rifle. I’ve always wanted to try the 9.3, so here I go. I’ve loaded up a 100 PPU cases with 286 gr SP PPU and some 275 gr Mo. bullet co. Coated cast bullets. Trying varget, cfe223 and RL 15.5. I’ll find out where the iron sights are at. I’ve been reading that they are way low at 50 yds. We’ll see. Then I’ll mount up a Leupold 1.5x5 and see how it performs. Anyone else have one?

Interested to see how it does for you, I went back and forth on one but waited too long. I do hope they thread the next batch, I love that they did them in the 9.3 and 35 whelen and not bead blasted stainless

Ramshot big game works well with heavy bullets in the 9.3. Here's John Barsnes data from reloaded mag. Loads are hot. They are pushed to 30-06 pressures so work up slowly.Screenshot_20260208_150421_Google.jpg

First off, congratulations on the new rifle!

Watch using the CFE223. It's known for increased pressures when the temperature warms up.

I was looking at Missouri's website on your bullet.
While it is an 18 brinell it's listed as "Mauser and Russian".
With the increased case capacity of the 62mm you are going to want to watch your velocities.
Probably something in the 1,700fps range would work ok.
Much faster and you may get into trouble.

Thanks, I’m excited! I’ve been scouring the web looking for loads. I did read Mule deer’s (JB’s) long thread on 24HCF, (and mainer’s), AR, Africa forums, etc. tons of info out there and it seems this caliber can use almost everything for powder! I went cheap on this first run of bullets to form brass and knock off the newness. 250 AB’s, 250 TTSX’s; 286 Partitions will be tried out next. I have the Coated lead 275’s on the low velocity end, still over 2k tho’. I’m probably trusting the coating too much.

I had to check, I thought Ruger still marketed the 9.3 in their hawkeye series, but nope! I’ve been out of the new rifle scene as I’ve been focused on A-series Sakos.. My AV .338’s might get jealous of this Sexy ABR. Ok, probably not. But it is put together well.
