Lets see those Turkey Mounts

I should get one bonafide mount.
I stopped collecting tails after about 60 kills. Threw a bunch away.
Haven't gotten anything done in a while myself. My trophy room is packed. My taxidermist retired. These are the most memorable turkeys for me though and ones I will remember.
1st mount- I saw him while guiding others. Actually called him in and the shooter choose another turkey he was with. I have never seen a bigger fuller beard and the moment I saw him live threw that hunt which was the last guided hunt of the season I went after him. Hunted everyday till I got him. Took 4 days
1st fan- buddy had leave and I took him turkey hunting. I called in a bird which he shot. This bird took off running. He handed me the gun and an hour later I shot him
2nd fan-we roosted this bird the night before. The next morning the plan was to get under the pine tree and he would fly down about 35yds away. It was pouring rain and my buddy the shooter opted to stay in bed till the rain stopped. So I decided to go out in the rain myself. I walked in the pouring rain and sat under the pine tree. As it got late it was very obvious I was under the wrong tree. I was nearly under the birds not off to the side as planned . I sat there waiting for light. I wasn't sure if they would get down in the rain. The bird hopped down and landed 10yds to my right. I dared not move. He walked right to the end of my barrel. Like literally. I waited till he got 15-20yds away and shot him
2nd mount-hunted hard and got others turkey. This one was seen everyday. 300yds out in the middle of a field everyday. The thought was he was landing there from the roost. He didnt respond to calls. I went after him multiple days in a row wothout success. I watched him roost from an adjacent hill one evening. The next morning I climbed the steep hill. I was following the 3' high stone wall going higher then I ever had when I found a 20' section missing. Hmm. So I sat there just in case. Shot him walking through it.
Last one and 1st spring turkey. After roasting birds the night before my buddy set up on them at the edge of the woods. I set up in a fence row 200yds out in the field. The thought was if they hung up on my buddy I would call and bring them by my buddy. We'll they hung up. So I started calling. They came full run by my buddy. He dropped 1. The other was not deterred. Ran right to me. And that is how I shot my 1st spring turkey. And he shot his.

My favorite turkey. My daughter's 1st one. Called in 500yds across a field. Just as it got to about 100yds the wind grabbed the blind and we had lift off. I grabbed it about 3ft off the ground. When I jumped up crap flew everywhere inside. I kept calling and much to my surprise he kept coming. I handed my daughter the shotgun. Had her lean it across my shoulder and she shot. Off balance she fell over backwards on her butt. Then I relized I handed her my gun in the confusion. She shot that bird with a 3.5". It hangs on her wall.

My one and only turkey was a bearded hen. Fanned her tail out like a tom and mounted it and the beard for the wall. Makes you guess.

Wife's first turkey on top, 10.5 inch beard and 1.5 inch spurs. Step daughters first turkey, underneath, a triple beard. Her other triple beard is in a storage room, along with my full strut merriams tom. I have several others in a back room. 20260227_205349.jpg
