I know many people dislike California(as do I), but there are some good hunting opportunities. Share some pictures and a short story of what you have taken in CA. Thanks!

There fixed it for you.

I actually grew up hunting blacktails in Northern California. It’s been a long time now. My friends tell me there are more lions than deer.

My blacktail buck from 2 weeks ago. With the power out so much I stayed home a lot so my wife would have water and heat. I am in charge of the generators. My son also shot a nice 21 inch forkie and for a blacktail that is a good fork.
Congrats! That's a nice looking blacktail!

I'm in Central CA and this past winter I saw A LOT of cat tracks, which I thought was weird as this area is loaded with bear.

Spent a few days traipsing the Trinity mountains. Saw numerous bear to include a blonde phase black bear w/2 cubs and several deer; mostly does. After 2.5 days of learning the area I was able to connect w/this 4x4. Hornady 165 GMX copper did the job < 40 yds. Most of the deer were holding tight in geothermal streams.

*I now claim FL residency since thats were I was stationed the majority of my career however, my parents still own a ranch in Northern CA that I like visiting annually.

Here’s some from D16 and D14. I got to do a lot of flint lock hunting because I could almost always pull late ML tag. I do miss that. D14 we rifle hunted, and that’s where my son killed his first buck, and me my first bear.

We left CA a couple years ago because we just couldn’t handle it anymore, but hunting there will always have a special place in my heart.

The Trinities are a special place, I've spent a lot of time up there...

I know exactly what you mean. I wouldn’t live here if I didn’t have to. Great looking deer and bear that you got here though!
