Well, we have wood working and metal working. I have recently started to dabble in leather work and I’m interested in what others are doing. I have started with some sheaths for friends and a calf belt for holding my knife on my calf while taking care of animals in the field.

First two are done, second two need to be wet mounded, and changing the black strap to bison hide on the belt.

No pink dyed leather? Jk the sheaths look great. I'm far from pro but I enjoy leather crafts as well.

Not going to lie, this thread is giving me some inspiration to give it a try. What's the easiest thing to start with?

I started with sheaths. The black one is the first thing I ever made after botching the first three templates. There are a ton of YouTube videos going step by step. I took things from 3-4 different videos and combined them. I have completed two now, 2 I need to wet mold, and have started 2 more and have definitely honed my own style a little bit and will continue to do so. The best part for me is I can spend ten minutes here and there. I don’t need to devote hours at a time.

Dsnow9, you've got some quality leather tools.
I started tooling in high school. About 50 years ago.
Still have all my leather tools and do a little tools crafting now and then.

having received the first ever @Dsnow9 original... I can say that it's really really awesome. and a happy accident that his first one turned out to be left-handed. It's rad

I make tiny hats for birds (and other bird-related products).

This was a batch from 3 or 4 years ago. The only pitchers I have, though I have made a bunch since for myself and others.

And, as in any leather topic, this video is obligatory.

Does every bird get a custom fitted one? Or are they sized to be somewhat one size fits all, adjustable? Very nice work .

Btw , one of your people lives around the corner from me.20231229_080129.jpg
