Cool ! I remember those days. Daughter kinda liked taking her friends out fishing or camping when she was little. We took a bunch out on a 18 mile trip. There is, was state cabins to use along the lakes. Used black garbage bags for rain gear. Near a dozen little black plastic ninjas running around
We've done a lot of canoeing and still do. And still using good ol Colemans. I've had 1 for 45 years and left little plastic curls along many rocks. Still using it at our cabin. Still floating, fixing up the keel rub threws with a bit of bituthane rubber on each side. We use it for a freight sled too. Hauling up,to,800 pounds of moose across the muskeg. Tough ol, canoes and easier for us to just drag across portages. And usually inexpensive, but almost indestructible.
Great you families getting out. This Paps been taking kids out in the ol canoes fishing. Hopefully moose hunting, starts today

My neighbor texted me picture of trips with her dad to the Bwca, pre Wilderness. People today fret portaging a 40 lb canoe with 30 lbs of gear. They used to portage full boats, motors and gas. I really enjoy seeing the old photos from the north woods.

I have an aluminum canoe that’s been wrapped around rocks and sweepers. It’s been straighter and patched but still floats. I’ve never heard it complain! I will admit the sound of the Kevlar on the rocks was like fingernails on a chalkboard at first, they are very tough for their weight!

Awesome! Time on the river from when I was a kid are my favorite memories. I hope my kids look back one day on our adventures as fondly as I do.
