John Anderson RIP

20 years ago I worked for a guy that did a couple bass fishing tournaments with John Anderson. I think I was kind of skeptical of his claim, so the next day at work he brought a bunch of photos of him and John fishing together.

I honestly only know a handful of John Anderson songs, and everyone knows and above has mentioned Seminole Wind. That song is an obituary for a place and time - neither of which I ever experienced - and yet through the magic of art his song makes my heart thump a little different when I absorb it.

I find this live version to be moving as hell. It was 8 years ago, but here in his mid 60s he's still so damn talented and soulful. Thanks for the music.

Every ounce of that dude's soul went in to that song.

"And progress came and took it's toll,
And in the name of flood control,"

My job entails building in open spaces and occasionally straightening streams/rivers. Those lyrics have been haunting me for years.

If you ever get the chance to goto the everglades - really reccomend it.

Its a shell of itself but what remains is still awesome.
