John Anderson RIP

20 years ago I worked for a guy that did a couple bass fishing tournaments with John Anderson. I think I was kind of skeptical of his claim, so the next day at work he brought a bunch of photos of him and John fishing together.

I honestly only know a handful of John Anderson songs, and everyone knows and above has mentioned Seminole Wind. That song is an obituary for a place and time - neither of which I ever experienced - and yet through the magic of art his song makes my heart thump a little different when I absorb it.

I find this live version to be moving as hell. It was 8 years ago, but here in his mid 60s he's still so damn talented and soulful. Thanks for the music.

So much more meaningful knowing that he wrote it about a place he knew and loved. We’ve all seen similar things happen to places that we love, although not as dramatic as what happened to the Everglades.

John introduced me to country music in1993 I believe with ,”I’ve got it made.”

It’s a country boy, middle class America anthem.

I got to see him in concert at an amazing venue.

Thanks for the music.
