I've got morels

We found about 60 today in west central illinois. A few old ones but most are fresh.

Taking the day off tomorrow to Turkey hunt for an hour or two, then taking what I call "the long walk" through mostly untouched woods that usually produce a lot of mushrooms. I only do this walk on years I'm confident it will produce since it is tough going. Too tough for the average shroomer.

Southern Illinois on Saturday, most looked a bit old. Only found on south-facing slopes of some rather nasty country, so north slopes might produce this week.

Hopefully I can figure out where/when to find them in Montana. With any luck, my season is just starting.

I found a nice mess of yellows mowing my grass yesterday. This week in Ohio should be prime.

Got a delivery from the neighbor today. Sounds like the picking is still going strong on his patch.

The picking has been great in the metro area of MN. I took my little girl out for her first hunt and she had a blast. Afterwards Daddy got a bit more serious and picked enough to fill the kitchen sink. We’ve been eating heaping pan-fulls of morels with every meal lately.
