I went home to IN over the weekend to renew my DL and check up on my dad (not in the best shape). Stay with a buddy and had a great time meeting up with old HS buddies and frequently ALL of my Indy favs for chow. Last day in town my buddy (not a hunter) wanted to run by Gander as he is looking at some new camping equipment. I thought to myself "Hmm, I can't find ammo (Fed V-shok '06 180gr NP) anywhere near the springs might as well give it a shot." Holy crap...score!! They had EVERYTHING for big game calibers in stock (not legal in IN). The ONLY thing a little negative was that I could only get two boxes in the luggage :) But I am now set for the season. :hump:

Where abouts in IN? I lived in Terre Haute for 2 years and worked at the prison in Plainfield while I was doing some National Guard time before going back to active duty.

John, You lived in Terre Haute? Probably went to the Ballyhoo a few times then? Lol. I live about 45 min North of there. Played alot of softball across from the prison too. Small world! lol:D

I was at Scheels in Billings on Saturday and was surprised to see there inventory was amazing. I would say they were at about 80%.it seems to be getting better every week. Still no 22s though.

I agree. We have plenty of the high power rifle ammo at the store and tons of slugs and pistol ammo, but, the .22's are few and far between and when we get them in, they are gone in a matter of hours! I have been getting the Winchester M22 1,000 rd boxes, but, only 8 or 10 at a time.

This time I was in Indy visiting my family and HS buddies. Most of the time when we come back we go to Warsaw to Mama's family. The ammo was scored at Gander in Caselton.

Nice pickup on the ammo! So what should I see in Indy? I'll be there in a few weeks for the first time.

Downtown has been revitalized nicely. The Eiteljorg (sp) Native American museum is nice. The zoo is nice. Eagle Creek Park and Reservior is really big and has tons of deer :) What kind of chow do you like and where are you staying? I can give you some good local spots.

all are great places. For Burgers and beer try the Tilted Kilt downtown. The downtown area has tons of places to eat and tons of bars for nightlife activities. If you have kids, the Childrens Museum is pretty famous too. The White River has some really nice smallmouths if you wanted to fish.

try a Whitecastle cheesburger if you've never had them!! :D

+1 for White Castles (double cheese and onion chips for me)
also for burgers....Workingman's Friend, Broad Ripple Brew Pub and Mr. Dan's

Tenderloin @ the Steer Inn

Beer and Blues @ the Slippery Noodle

My wife did her residency in Indy, definately a fun downtown area, Broadripple is cool too. We had burgers at a place called "Bub's Burgers" they had good beer, a ridiculous burger eating challenge, and really good elk burgers. For pizza check out Bazbeaux's Pizza in Broadripple.
