What are a guys chances of killing a bcat
or cougar while hunting deer and elk?Used
to be slim to none in Wa. Last year my buddy
had a quick shot at a bobcat deer hunting
near Carbonado, but missed. I would love to
have luck on my side and nail either one, but
especially the bobcat. I'd like a nice rug
for my den. Anyone out there have any luck
on getting a cat while hunting other animals?

Here in Az we have lots of bobcats and lions.
Most people that are out deer hunting and pig hunting see one or 2. I think the reason being is that in az its pretty wide open and you do alot of glassing. not to mention the fact that deer and those little pigs are lion food here. There are a few guys here in az that use a pig call for lions and have good sucess for a caller.
When I hunted in washington I did alot of brush busting and very little glassing I would thinks thats why I didnt see but one lion the whole time. and that lion was running arcoss Highway 410 just north of greenwater. I know you know where that is. hehe

Delw,

Man I wish you were still in the evergreen
state. We'd be tearing up the country in
my Ford 4x4!
The last time I was pretty
close to a big cat was almost 20 years ago
behind the Weyerhauser Mill. I was grouse
hunting behind the Weyehauser Mill when I
heard what I thought was a women being assalted. Turned out to be a big cat with
kittens. My golden retriever wanted to play
with the big cat, but I held him back. Heck
I was only 50 ft away. The cat just stared
me down for about 30 seconds, and then jumped
into the brush.Good thing for Duke the wonder
dog. It wasn't quite his time to go to doggy
heaven.

We have a crap load of Mt.lions here in Ca., but the tree huggers made in illegal to shoot them. I see one on almost every deer hunt, usually after dark, while returning to camp.

Anaconda,

The tree huggers in Wa are thinking twice
about making it illegal to hunt cats with
dogs. The complaints on big cats have gone
up 400% in 4 years, and some people have
been hurt. Its sad to have to come down to
human lives for these granola bars to get
the message.
