Lost both folks to cancer in 1998.
He taught me to fish and how to be a waterman.
They are both with me in spirit.

Thank your everyone for all the kind words said. I wasn't able to hit the hills very hard this year mostly because I could not due to work obligations but also in part because I was unsure of how it would truly feel. The few days I were able to get in the woods in all felt amazing, did kind of need that time in the middle of nowhere with nothing but my thoughts. I did not harvest a buck this year but I think I gained something much more important, some healing and renewed drive to continue hunting. I will be a refuge rat this weekend for the opener of waterfowl season, and glad to be looking forward to it again.

I am sorry for your loss in your life. I have lost my father and brother, 18 months apart. Each opening day of squirrel season I sit in the woods and say a prayer and chase squirrels for them.
