I just want the world to get to the point where people's race, gender, sexual preference, etc. doesn't really mean anything.
I routinely tell people that I don't care if someone is red, blue, pink, green or purple, if they are qualified and capable of doing the job that I want to hire them for, I'm going to hire them. I would use the same thing for who I turn to to learn about conservation. Who they are shouldn't matter nearly as much as their ideas and what they are doing. That holds true for people who are famous for other reasons as well. I really have never understood how someone would care what an actor had to say about different topics other than acting. There are way smarter people out there I would rather hear from than an actor or actress or singer with limited real world experience or knowledge.
I consider myself to be a christian, but when I'm looking for someone to use for a construction project and they say that I should hire them because they are a christian it is a red flag to me. They should be telling me I should hire them because they do good work, have a reasonable price, etc., not because they are a christian.
A bit of a rambling rant, but essentially I think we should be looking at people for what they are actually doing for conservation or if they have input on what we can do to help out and it shouldn't really matter who they are or how they identify themselves. That goes both ways.
