It doesn’t. But, kind of like suspending a drivers license, it creates a higher level of crime and a separate offense to hunt while you’re suspended.

Higher crimes and more/subsequent offenses hopefully lead tonight fines and/or jail time.

Unfortunately, $180k is easy money for a guy who spent $150k on land owner tags the year he was busted.

Lifetime ban only applies if you follow the law in the first place.

Considering the extent of what he was doing, this is nothing. He is very wealthy, with plenty of land to poach on. He is the Director of Electrical Operations for Quanta services, a billion dollar company. It is unfortunate that this POS is still employed and paid substantially. He sold 10 million worth of his stock right after being arrested last year. As a Journeyman Lineman myself, I know multiple guys who use to work for his original company, Probst electric, before they were sold to Quanta. And none of them were surprised when he got caught with these charges, and said he was always an arrogant POS. I wrote Quanta asking them how they can keep someone like this in charge of their safety for all powerline activities, and never heard any response of course. This license suspension will do nothing to stop him from continuing his illegal ways.

Not only this. but it makes poaching more difficult to hide. No longer can you use legit hunting to hid your poaching. Plus, many poachers do it for the ego trip now days. kind of hard to brag at the bar and post pictures to Facebook with a life time ban. Takes all the thrill out of poaching for many if you can't flaunt it.
