Idaho MSG Applications - Who's In

I just saw online a 11 year old pulled a moose tag. He has to have another hunter with a moose tag with him to be able to use it due to the youth program that allowed him to draw it. That seems like it could turn into a mess
Maybe dad shouldn’t have put the kid in for the tag. It’s kind of ridiculous the amount of people that put their kids in for OIL moose tags. Going on facebook and looking for a hunting “partner “ for your kids OIL tag rubs me wrong. So because daddy wants to go moose hunting and post it all over social media, the kid burns his OIL tag before he can truly realize the full magnitude of the hunt. I’m sure he’ll enjoy being drug around the mountains with a stranger and plopped down in front of a moose and told to shoot it though.
Whatever

I'm unfamiliar with this program. I have not heard of this.

I know you cannot gift OIL tags to kids or grandkids and I know you cannot draw a controlled big game tag on a hunter passport....beyond that I am unaware of a youth program.
It’s the junior mentor program. The program allows a youth to hunt with an adult without taking/meeting the hunter safety. The situation is solved if the kid completes Idaho hunter safety program.

No one in this house hold got anything. Other half put in for a sheep tag nada, nothing. I refuse to donate any money anymore for total out of reach tags.
This is why my wife and I are in the DEA draw and not for crazy tags.

How much of a donation is it when the vast majority is refunded?

Typically put in for a couple tags every year and occasionally raffles. So far nothing as would be expected.

Bought a moose hunt in 2019 to ensure I could do the hunt while my dad was still around. I would love the opportunity to draw a tag and go DIY, but I'm glad that I will always have the memory of going with my dad on the hunt we did have.

The Tone, native life long Idahoan. I've hunted since I could legally hold a license at the age of 12. Haven't missed too many seasons. For 40 years didn't put in for Moose or sheep due to working wild land fire. Always made hay while the sun shined. Other words worked our backsides off. Retired now and thought maybe we could have some fun and learn some new things and do a little more hunting. I guess just tired of competing with little kids who don't know no better because dad wants to hunt everything every year. Seen it 2 years ago dad dragging the kid around on a cow hunt kid couldn't even pack the gun. Tired of hearing first year I put in and drew a tag!! So here's to a great chance for everyone else because I'm not playing the game anymore. Besides I'm getting to damn old grouchy.:ROFLMAO:
