I went calling today. 2 sets first one was at Carter. I had 2 come in from different directions, they were about to tangle, I took a shot 235 yards, missed. I left the caller on Kiyi as I picked up my stuff. I looked up and had one looking at my decoy. I set back up to shoot, 249 yards, I laid down, I tried to get it to stand, no luck. So I shot. Kawop. The feet went into the air. I crossed the coolie to get it's head. I looked for an hour and I couldn't find it in the grass. Dang. I then went to the Moffit bridge, P dog town, and walked out and set up. Freeking deer in every draw, the coyotes would try to come in, and the does would run them off. 3 coyotes tried, no luck, BUT I looked over my shoulder to see one on MY side of the canyon at 49 yards. It was so intent on looking at the decoy, it didn't see me turn around and shoot him. I got his head. So I called in 7 dogs, 3 shots, 2 dead, and I saw 3 road dogs. home at noon

I got it skinned today (Thursday) and only found 2 ticks on me afterwards.

Anyway, I get most of the meat off and dig out the eyeballs. I put it into my boil bucket with a bit of Dawn and a half cup of borax. I'll let it simmer all night. I have a fishing trip set up with my GD tomorrow (Friday), so I'll turn off the fire and let it soak till Saturday. I may warm it back up if it's really cold, rinse it off with the hose, and use the air compressor to blow out anything left. On a deer head, I don't keep the lower jaw, but on the predators, I want them. I take great care to keep all the teeth in place, and some will need to be glued back in. I use hair bleach to whiten the bone as needed.

I have traded them in the past, and I can get rid of as many as I can get and finish
