“I don’t want you hunting this outfit.”

I see a lot more potential from other hunters or anti-hunters being charged with hunter harassment than I do big land owners. Especially in the east, just think of all the small parcel neighbor disputes, spite, and shit slinging..

Odd that people think there aren't hunter harassment convictions. Maybe not a ton but they are definitely a thing.

Agreed. My bet is zero.
Can't speak for MT but in Michigan there are quite a few every year. This guy in 2024 got 60days plus loss of hunting privileges. There are more as well. Just example.

So does a case need to involve physical harm of the hunter to stand a chance?

I think if you do not have witnesses or the other side has more, you need irrefutable proof that it happened. IE your cell phone video which would probably escalate the situation. Other than that, its a he said, he said deal.

Honestly think the best way to handle hunter harassment is to double down. You and a buddy harassed on public? Next time bring 4 guys, and go twice as often. Harrassed again, bring all your family, your lawyer friend, a local journalist, post it on the internet, post detailed maps on every hunting site of how to access, where to find elk or whatever, who cares. come one come all. Maybe it will take some spot burning and a little effort to do it, but consider it a new expression of the hobby, and who knows, might make some new friends. There needs to be a cost to entitled a-holes who instigate this stuff and infringe on the public's rights. Fighting these battles solo on "their turf" by their rules isn't gonna get the word out to others who are thinking of being similar d-bags about their exclusive "outfit"... and the word that gets out that they learn should be FAFO. 🤣🤣🤣

I doubt this happens again. I have a buddy that wanted to do this exact hunt about 3 years ago. He contacted a company about the chopper and they refused to fly him in. Even with it all being legal the pilot did to much work with the landowners and didn’t want to cause issues with his business.

Getting prosecutors to be interested in these kinds of cases is a big ask. The kinds of folks that harass hunters are usually the kind of people that can afford private defense attorneys that like to bill a lot (which means they file a bunch of frivolous motions) and therefore make life difficult for the prosecutor. And it is a misdemeanor offense so its a big risk for a small reward (in the prosecutor's calculus). Add the fact that many prosecutors are elected and the kind of people harassing hunters may also have political ties, and it makes it that much less appealing to a prosecutor.

And, of course, the simplest explanation: most prosecutors I know could not care less about hunting and fishing laws and violations.
Well - would public pressure help?

If the county is known, id love to send an email asking why this rancher is above the law.

Through the grapevine, I'm hearing that this supposed hunter/landowner conflict might of been a put on. When you view the youtube short clip, it does come across as staged with bad acting. A publicity stunt?!

To my knowledge, no hunter harassment or theft charges have been filed. Anybody know?

🤔
Let's make a deal. Drop charges and easy crossing just for you?

Your grapevine is growing on a bar stool? Passing along unfounded rumors is not helping anyone.

Then show me some substance and prove me wrong.
Something fishy about this whole deal... jus' sayin'

The classic conspiracy move. Watch the video. People get weird in weird situations. Can you imagine the tension? I wouldn’t have handled that nearly as well as those hunters. If it was my brother and I, he would have been “oh, Godding it.”

The rancher was at the most recent outfitters board meeting trying to get the helicopter pilot charged for illegal outfitting for assisting hunters, among other things. Charges take time when things are being figured out. Go look at the outfitter board meeting minutes and you can read about it yourself instead of spreading stupid rumors.

how/why would there be any coerralation (sp) between the board of welfare outfitters and a Game and Fish charge of hunter harassment + criminal theft? Does the Wyoming Game & Fish and local prosecutor confer with the outfitters before taking action?

If somehow the incident is legit (I hope it is), probably the right thing at the time was to kick the ever living shit out of the rancher/harasser/thief...on the spot

What in hades are you talking about? You made weird claims about this being some orchestrated incident and he provided further evidence that it is not based on follow up actions taken by the land owner on the public record. Andrew McKean (the involved party who writes for outdoor life) isn't some clickbait chasing tabloid writer.
