Hunting Leases/Kids Hunting/Drury Syndrome

So every once in a while you pick up a better then expected property. This property is 550 acres. Good size in PA. It was set up very well when we walked it for the 1st time. Ladder stands at the right places. Which leads you to wonder. What am I missing. Why did someone give it up. There was cameras in place so I walked in front of them with my phone number on a piece of paper hoping they would call me. I at least wanted to get the guys cameras back to him. Well on my own cameras I captured him collecting his stuff last Friday. I had no idea he was coming. In any case one of my cameras suddenly stopped transmitting. I was able to get the contact info for the past leasee. They leased it for 1 season and never hunted it. They got drawn for other states. So they decided not to renew it. This farm is being set up for kids. So needless to say the photos he shared have the kids pretty pumped. Hard to believe this is the mountains of PA

If you dont mind me asking how much does that lease for roughly? It would probably be over $30k here annually.

We have 10 kids planned to hunt this. Maybe 12. Its hard to imagine paying much more per kid/family. Its subsidized with them paying less then half. But I can't imagine paying more then that. Crazy

Ive seen 40 acre pieces with no more than a brushy creek line the rest being tillable, lease for $3500

I just love what your doing. Its easy to make hunting a selfish endeavor - hunting definitely needs more of this.

I can't imagine.
A 40 acre tract just leased in GA near my lease for $5,000/year. For GA bucks.

The justification/mentality of the tard who had it up for lease is beyond words. Oh, and it leased within 1 hour of posting.....

To put that into perspective, I currently pay $1,500 for a 200 acre lease in GA that we have held for 20 years.......
I was leasing 100 acres in Fayette county Illinois for $3,500/year....We gave that up because it was way overpriced and the neighbors were a bunch of crackheads. We did pull a couple of good bucks off of it before we got rid of it though. It re-leased within 5 minutes of re-posting for $4,500 a year.

Scary times ahead for hunters in this state for sure.
