I've been out two days so far. One buddy took a 13" buck two days ago. I am trying to hold out for a little bigger buck that I hope will leave his private land sanctuary once the rut kicks in. All of our bucks are still herded up together paying no attention to does yet.

Anyone else any luck?

I filled my doe/fawn tag the other day. Not sure why I shot a fawn, but it was so close I had to do it.:D

At my water hole I have only had does and fawns come in so far.

Now for a Kalispell story. I had a group of three guys from Kalispell camped out in their 50' RV, a motor bike and a hunting jeep about 1/2 mile from the waterhole I was using. This was there first time bow hunting lopes and were not having much luck stalking. They knew where my blind was and since they were not having any luck they thought they would help me out (I found this out at the end of the day).

I stopped to say hello on my way out and they told me how they had been herding the lopes around with their jeep trying to get them to run by my blind.|oo Is it something in the water over there.

Nice enough guys and they did supply me with a couple beers as we swatted squeeters.:D

I will give it a shot again next weekend, but am really looking forward to the rut.

Way to go on the lope! You know you should shoot them fawns toward the end of the season, they'll likely be twice as big. ;)

Did you eat it all in one meal or did it take two? LOL

I got this one this weekend....score one for the wac'em pack :D

Congrats on the buck. The archery hunt starts this coming weekend in AZ. The bucks appear to be in the early stages of the rut. Lots of scrapes and most of the big bucks have does.
