How old is too old?

I have a box of 30-30 ammunition that is about 35-40 years old. It has been kept clean and dry since it was new and except for a patina to the brass--looks new. Think it's safe? I can't see why it wouldn't be.

No problem. It will either function or misfire. It is not going to blow up or anything like that.

But, may leave a bullet still in the barrel on a misfire so be careful to check that if any doubt.

Plenty of mil surp ammo out there is as old and fires fine. Test a few rounds at the range and see how it goes.
