How much snow is to much??

I wasn't trying to be cruel. Just trying to make the point that the elk are where you find them. You can generalize about where they might be given certain weather conditions, time of the year, or hunting pressure, but nothing takes the place of getting out there and finding them. Many units over here on the west side don't get above 9,000 feet elevation, and yet they hold elk year around. A friend of mine took this photo on BLM land in early July at about 7,000 feet.

Well....I wont be hunting a 14000+ ft mountain next time just to rule that theory out. Deer seemed to be right at the 10k mark, didnt see much of them lower than that, which was surprising. Usually they're down in the hayfields by now
