I am in a wedding in mid May in Florida around Clearwater. So the family and I are going down. Looking to do a hog hunt a day with the boy. Any good ideas where to go? And other fun things to do? Going to go on a boat crabbing a night. Any ideas welcome!

Thank you
Scott

for guided private land hog hunts. Central Florida outfitters are your best bet and are family-friendly since they handle permits, safety, and gear.
Other fun family ideas while you’re there: visit the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, do a dolphin or sunset boat cruise, enjoy a beach day and Pier 60 at sunset, and check out Weeki Wachee Springs State Park for the mermaids and tubing.
Boat crabbing at night sounds perfect you’ll have a great mix of hunting, water fun, and family time.

Land based outdoor activities, specifically hunting, are going to be limited within a few hrs drive of Clearwater. Plenty to do on the water though, I’d focus on that unless you have a lot of time and don’t mind driving.

Plenty of places to hog hunt down there. Pretty cheap too. I've done it a hand full of times and its fun. My first time down there I hunted in the orange groves which was cool, but the last couple years I've done swamp buggy hunts with dogs which is fun. The place I hunt is a long ways from Clearwater, but there are lots and lots of hogs in FL so it shouldn't be hard to find somewhere to take yall out.

In May there won't be any options for hog hunting on public. I never hunted private when I was there, but there's lots of ranches that will sell you a hog hunt. Also gators can be taken on private anytime of year through an outfitter, might cost more than a hog. Buy a thermacell, or two or three.
