Hill County, MT State Land losing access

I just saw this request to abandon a road in Hill County, MT. I believe that is this road is abandoned legal access to State section 16 would be lost. I haven't looked into this yet and will try to make time to research it next week but wanted to put it on the radar of people much more proficient than I. If indeed this does eliminate legal access to public land as it looks to, I would encourage you to flood the commissioners with input to not abandon the road and maintain access.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Hill County Commissioners will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, 2nd day of July, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Hill County Courthouse 315 4th St Havre Montana. The purpose of the public hearing is to accept public comment on the Petition to alter a county road.

The proposed county road is located in Gildford, Montana. More specifically Rd 80 South Section will affect a small portion of Section 18, T31N, R12E, SE4 of Sec 18 and Section 19, T31N, R12E, NE4 of Section 19 as well as full Section 17, T31N, R12E and Section 20, T31N, R12E.

Written comment may be submitted to: Hill County Executive Administrative Assistant at 315 4th St Havre, MT 59501. Written comments sent to the above addresses must be received no later than Tuesday, 1st day of July, 2025 at 5:00 p.m., in order to be printed and provided to the Board of Hill County Commissioners. Written and verbal comments will be accepted during the public hearing held on Wednesday, 2nd day of July, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.

Copies of the Petition and relevant materials are available for review at Hill County Courthouse, Board of Hill County Commissioners’ office at 315 4th St. Havre, MT 59501.

Not sure what the outcome was but Road 70 South still gets you access to the Northeast corner of section 16 the OP was talking about.
