The last few seasons I have been traveling with at least one cheap Coleman cooler with wheels as one of my checked bags. I put a duffel in the bottom and fill it with clothes and gear. I then tie mule tape around it so it can’t come open and check it as a bag. It is exactly 61” and the airline limit is 62”. When I get something I freeze it hard load it into the cooler as soon to my departure time as possible and duct tape all of gaps around the lid. I then tie the mule tape to secure it and check it right back home. These things aren’t fancy. But they work! Highly recommend! Sure you can fly with a yeti but they weight 30 lbs at least. This bad boy tips the scales (I think I remember correctly) at 11 lbs leaving 40 lbs for meat and 45 if you are good about putting your toe under the bag on the scale at the airport :)IMG_6318.jpeg

Seems good to go. Glad its been working for you. Weight is a big issue with rotomolded coolers. I use them for about everything except on my kayak and on my surf fishing cart. I use lighter coolers for those needs. Use the right tool for the job at hand.

My cheap cooler collection seems to grow every few years when I find myself traveling by car in a less populated area after a flight.

One I bought on a scouting trip where I checked my camping box and duffel.

I’d like to find a good waterproof cooler I could roll up until I needed it.

I've been intrigued by Killbags, but, in the end, I doubt they save much room. I can't imagine they roll up very small, also pretty pricey.

I think the original is the US army surplus Jerry can coolers. Just the right size for packing in on horseback
