Hello from Helena!

I’ve been using these forums for long enough that I thought I’d make an account to be able to help others when I can. I’m based in Helena, Montana but love to figure out new units all over Montana. Currently thinking about heading to hd319 to chase elk for this coming archer opener but having friends drop off left and right…that’s okay, I’ll haul it all out! If anyone does want to join PM me, I’d be happy for the company but it isn’t going to stop me! Happy hunting!

When I started hunting I made the goal of harvesting my first of every species with a bow so calling this guy in to 20 was a pretty big day!

I used to hunt 319 in the rifle seasons but have since started hunting further south. Seems to be less elk in there than 5-10 years ago and significantly increased pressure from Butte and Anaconda hunters. You can pm me for general areas that might be good in the archery season (Ive only rifle hunted but they used to be productive). Best of luck.

I had the same goal when I picked up a bow, maybe only 2-3 seasons after I started really picking hunting back up again.
Took me 3 more seasons to finally get a turkey with my bow…
immediately decided it would be acceptable to start using a shotgun after that
