Anyone tried these and have recommendations? I love the Mora for most hunting use, the Helles seem like a similar design, just a little prettier. The fjellkniven and eggen look like damn good elk hunting knives.

Those scandi-grind knives usually take a scary edge, and I like the overall design. I have an affinity for high quality gear from my ancestors’ homeland, which is why I love Sako rifles.

The name disqualifies it for me. Probably not associated with the sheep people in the middle of big horn habitat but I don’t care. That name is dirt to me.

I personally think they are ugly, I'd rather have a Benchmade or something custom for a little more.

Like the Utvaer shape...but @NDGuy has me hooked on customs

If I got another this is the one that I would get. My uncle got me the folder version of this and it has been a good knife for almost 10 years. My only problem is that it is a folder and I am always scared that I am going to snap if when cutting through the brisket. Also the sheath is a big problem for me. The band that is supposed to keep the knife in the sheath is way too loose and the knife will fall right out of it. So I never have it on my belt and have to carry it in my pocket. I need to just get a new sheath but never get around to it.

Good comments, these types of replies are useful content.

That’s a better profile from them. If you want a dope Scandi grind hit up Charlie May Knives!
Mr. May produced a Noxubee to my specs about 10 years ago. The best part of the experience were the phone conversations...a gracious & patient gentleman, surprisingly affordable.

I've had a Helle for several years. (It was the orignal premium for being a life member at BHA). I can't remember the model. The steel is great. The wood handle is very nice looking. Very sturdy knife. I ordered it online and when I received it I realized it was larger than i expected and really too bulky for my preference. I end up using a smaller Benchmade knife most of the time. So I would say go for it but make sure it's the knife you want, that it fits your hand.

I have a few. Most of the blades are laminated stainless. Handles usually curly birch. They make a nice knife. Steel is a little softer but no problem to touch up with a strop. Usually stick tang. Nice to use in cold weather. I'll try to get a picture up of what I have.
