Have a new hunting buddy coming

No, not a kid. We're done having those.

But, I did get confirmation that we will be getting a German Wirehair Pointer pup in three weeks! Very excited, I spoke at length with the breeder this morning.

This is my first versatile dog. My current hunting dog is a lab. Anyone on here with any GWP experience?

Yup. Like you I had labs before, in fact I still have a lab that is 13. Here is Beckett on one of his first hunts last year at 8 months. Great dogs!!

Congrats. Have had 1 and judged numerous ones in AKC Field trials and NSTRA trials. You're in for fun. You can hunt dam near anything with them.

Just working with a buddies today, awesome dog. Another buddy has two, also great dogs. They all love to work, smart dogs with great personalities. Just a bunch of overgrown pups. Smart choice

I love my lab to death, but I can't wait to hit the uplands with a dog that can really go hard for days on end.

Congrats on the new addition. Nothing beats a pointer for upland bird hunting. I personally have a Vizsla and a GSP, but have hunted with a couple that my friend owns and they are great dogs. The litter looks like there are some winners in there. Looking forward to seeing which one you have chosen.

I've hunted over a few and if I'm ever in a place I can justify getting a bird dog, GWP is what I'll get. Very neat dogs. Plus they just look cool!
