Heat a small dia nail, push it into the tape roll to create a small weld spot thru the whole roll.

We used tons of flagging tape at work and would burn a spot near the end of the tape to keep it from unraveling. Of course, nobody like to use partial roles so everyone would always grab a new role out of the truck. Then we would end up with partial roles all over the place.

I use a plastic battery box as a junk box on my dozers. Water bottle, munchies, phone case, and a tangled wad of various flagging tape colors as a cushion in the bottom. This is a great idea
