My wife, understanding that her weakness for shoes is rivaled by my weakness for firearms, relented over the weekend and let me pick up my birthday present early. Capitol Sports, one of 2 locally owned sporting goods stores in Helena, had a small inventory of SIG Sauer P250's. They were cancelled Law Enforcement contract guns and they were offering them at a steep reduction.

The P250 seems to suffer from the unfortunate experience of being declared dead by the internet. It would seem the rumors of it's demise are greatly exaggerated. I put 150 rounds through the pistol with no failures at all. Accuracy is good. I'm not an accomplished pistol shot, and when I do pick up a hog-leg, it's generally got S&W on the side plate and only holds 6 rounds. At 7 yards, the X ring was blown out. At 14 yards, the target was missing a grapefruit sized hole and at 25 yards, I was still hitting about a 10 inch circle w/ fast fire. The DAO trigger is smooth and about 5.5 pounds. I was going to pass on this pistol because of the DAO feature, but then I pulled the trigger and dry fired it. The trigger is clean, smooth & crisp. Just as nice as my 686.

Good enough for government work I would say.

This is the full size pistol, caliber is 9mm:

Should be a good gun. I have a P220 that I won in a raffle one time. I bought two, five dollar tickets. I have put lots of rounds through it over the years between work and target practice and it has never missed a lick.

If only SIG would get rid of that ridiculous decocker and make their other models appeal to lefty's. :)

Sigs are good shooters, for sure, you will enjoy it.

In the mid 2000s had the opportunity to buy a reworked NAVSOF P226 (new barrel, grips, springs, mags, trigger job), the thing was in good shape given its early life, and I only paid $450. I have probably put 4-5k rounds through it staying profficient, could never bring myself to buying a Beretta. Other than holster wear and dimming night sights, the thing is just as good as the day I got it, and it is a tank. Not a light pistol, but accurate and consistant as a metronome.

<Insert Sarcasm>Careful Ben!! Any more talk about "Dead" firearms and you may attract the attention of the "Internet Ninjas" <End Sarcasm>

My first handgun was a P-220 match 5". Don't think I could really do it justice for accuracy. Sure was a fun handgun though... One of the easiest .45ACP's to shoot that I've come across.

The 320 (striker fired) is replacing it. The trigger on the 320 is supposed to be one of the best striker triggers out there (PPQ may be better).

I've seen a few of these 250's hit the shelves under $300 new lately. Great buy on a good pistol.

My one and only Sig, the 227, is TDA of course.

Hope you enjoy the 250.

Ha! From what I've read, it's everyone talking about some canceled contracts on early models that had a few issues. Those issues were resolved by 2010.

As I understand it, the magazine, grip module & slide will be the same and the only real change is the fire control unit. Means I could slip a new FCU into the 250 & have a striker fired weapon. Folks don't like DAO much, especially since it takes more skill to master the trigger. All of the revolver guys who have it seem to love it. It's a darned fine trigger, IMO.

You are correct. http://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?12319-SIG-320/page3
