Im on southwest today, these seats are tiny!!! First world problems.
I think that is anxiety by people who don’t travel alot. It’s like the Group 4-8 people on American who cluster around the gate before the boarding even starts

Amen! I've done 2 weeks plus with only carry-on. But the wife goes to Vegas for 4 days and needs to check a bag.
Airline travel has really changed over the years. Used to be that taking a flight was a really big deal and it was rather expensive, not even plausible for many. Those that did travel via airlines were typically rather "cleaned up" in dress and appearance and general manners were a whole lot better. Also, since the business was not so competitive and demand was not so high the seating was more spacious and the perks such as drinks, meals, etc. were much more generous.
It has gotten so cheap to fly now that airline traffic is within everyone's reach. There are lots of places you can get round trip tickets to for $100 or less if you do a little shopping; Vegas and Florida come to mind. Along with the low prices come a bunch of folks most of us would prefer not to be spending time with. Unfortunately you get trapped in the same airport and flight with these folks for hours at a time and get exposed to the poor manners, hygiene issues, general sh#tty behavior, etc.
I'll fly when I have to, but prefer to drive if the destination is anywhere within reason.

Just got back from Nome, three flights each way. Pretty much experienced everything said above with the exception of the 6 yo peeing in the toilet
Top it off with window seats that don't have windows! 737-900, seat 11A doesn't have a window for those interested.

Why anyone is in a rush to get on a plane is a mystery to me. The only thing I can think of is to claim overhead space because there is never enough. Why did they build planes with overhead space that is not commensurate with the passenger number and/or size regulations. I have young kids, so we just barrel through everyone with our bursting bags and toys strewn everywhere.
