Some folks might remember the old Savage rifle from the 50s I posted here a while back - well I'm back in TX and am now in possession of a new relic. It's a JC Higgins 12ga Sears and Roebuck special. Manufactured in the late 40s, and purchased before 1950. Like most of grandpa's old guns, it isn't in great condition and probably won't see field use. But the bolt works, and the firing pin functions.

I've also got a 25-20 pump action from the 1930s-1940s I keep meaning to post. I'll get around to that eventually. Its still in firing condition (I shot a jack rabbit with it when I was a kid) but good lord who can afford a box of 25-20 these days, sheesh.

My dad has one of those JC Higgins and a couple of boxes of paper shells with it, 16 gauge I believe. He used it a lot when he was young, but it hasn't been shot in probably 30 years now.

My Grandpa hunted the uplands with a Savage Fox SxS in 16 gauge. TR

I've taken a lot of game with my Hawthorne 410 bolt action.
Squirrel, rabbit, grouse, pheasant and groundhogs.

It was the second gun that I ever bought when I was 18.

I still have it and is the gun that's grabbed when upland game is the hunt of the day.

My grandfather had a Mossberg 16ga bolt action shotgun. It was a nice field gun until 16ga was hard to find I sold it.....I never should have sold it. He took a lot of small game with that gun.
