GPS for Auto...

Just did some research last weekend....if it were me I'd get the Garmin nuvi 250W. Or if you want to spend more money, go with any of the higher priced Garmin nuvi units. All depends on if you want/need bluetooth capability, fm transmitter, mp3 player, etc. For just a basic unit go with the 250W.

No need to even look at Tom Tom or Magellan. Garmin's got them beat in both car and hunting/hiking type units.
 
Auto GPS

I heard that TomTom required a subscription. Magellan or Garmin should have maps and locations already loaded.
 
Getting the wifey a Nuvi 350 for xmas. If it were for me, it would be the plain and simple 250. I wouldn't want to pay for the bullcrap extras like bluetooth, mp3, voice directions (unless it's a hot chick's sexy voice), etc, but the wife will like all those features.
