Homeowner probably just got home from a 5 day spike camp hunt and didn’t see anything…now he knows why

A few pics from my back window. The elk herd has grown from 20 to almost 200 in 20 years. I’ll have evenings with 100+ grazing in my backyard.

Elk know that living around my house provides irrigated green grass, water from irrigation heads and security from predators (wolves and humans). Elk herds act like they’re living Yellowstone. They’ll let me get within 20 yards before they move. Easy living for elk.

Elk aren’t hunted around the house. I’ve had many elk hunts that I have elk in my front yard coming and going to an elkless day elsewhere.

I have similar with deer. But every once in a while an arrow flies out an open window. A man can only take so much when it’s legal and they taunt you.

I told a former neighbor I didn’t care if he killed a cow elk in my yard during the late archery season. Only requirement was to remove the body, gut pile would be ate by coyotes. I didn’t want to drive around a rib cage in the spring mowing the lawn.

Any houses for sale nearby?

Yep. They’ve been on the market since the spring or recently removed from the market. Prices haven’t been adjusted down and the houses haven’t sold. Last year houses sold in days.
