Ed and I spent three consecutive nights sleeping 150 yards from this dead elk that a sow and cub grizzly were feeding on. She was a good bear and didn’t bother us. Even so, we abandoned that spot immediately upon discovering that elk.

I assumed so. I didn’t poke around it stank so bad an the bear had most of the chest and belly covered up.

No. And would add, MS13 is a gang, not a cartel. None of this is really new... the Bloods or Crips (can't remember) tried setting up shop in Belgrade nearly 25 years ago. The cops ran them out on a rail over the course of a year.

In 2021, the bureau appears to have concluded it overcounted violent crime incidents by 55,786 and undercounted them in 2022 by 24,243.

If the guy was in fact just a normal dude with no crime ties, my guess is he was the victim of a gang initiation.

From what I’m hearing from my law enforcement buddy, they are expecting the gang to move east to wider spaces and less law enforcement. I will be locking the door tonight. I’m not sure it’s safe to camp anywhere.
