After chasing a range of species around the place I was excited to get back to my favourite species - red deer. After a good southerly I planned to hunt a spot a few hours away with my bow.
I spotted a stag feeding on a small clearing and managed to get to about 75 yards. I had to back track to get some cover so I could get closer. While I did this, and remove my boots, the stag moved off and I lost sight of him. Fortunately he didn't go far and I could hear close by in the bush.
After a few minutes I spotted him through the bush and waited a few seconds for a good broadside shot. At 15 yards the shot felt good. The loud "thack" convinced me it won't be far way. After 30 minutes waiting I walked the 70 meters down hill and found him cold. I was very happy to get my first bush stag
