Very proud of my 8 year old son on killing his first buck! It is youth season here in Kansas. It was a 95 degree day, but we were able to sneak within 150 yards with about 10 minutes of shooting light remaining. We use a Bog tripod and a 7mm-HT. I set up the tripod and set the gun up in the general direction of the deer. He clean missed the 1st shot. I worked the bolt for him, he settled in and touched off the 2nd shot. I heard the unmistakable SMACK, and the buck was dead in his tracks. Spot and stalk whitetail on public land. I think he’s hooked!

Congrats!! My 8 yo got his first whitetail with a crossbow. The buck fever was real! He didn’t stop shaking for 30 minutes LOL

Who enjoyed themselves more? Congratulations to both of you!
Yeah we were both excited. As many dads on here know, it is extremely hard to get a young kid set up for a shot, not to mention all the scouting and gear prep. Lots of things have to go right. We were fortunate to get a good opportunity.

I always remember my second son’s first buck. He shot him at about 30 yards. When I checked the rifle to make sure it was unloaded I noticed the scope was at 15 power 😳. He must have started at the top of the back and worked his was down, lol.

Congrats to your son!
